Dayton Planning Board
August 4, 2009
Members Present: Remi Caron (Chair), Dick Hall, Dan Plourde, Valerie Cole (Alt.)
Members Absent: Gary Cobleigh
Others Present: Jim Roberts (CEO)
Administrative:
Minutes from the July 21, 2009 meeting were read and approved. Dick Hall moved, Dan Plourde seconded, and all voted in favor.
Old Business:
WINDMILLS AND TURBINES: Board members continue to discuss requirements for windmills. Dick Hall passed around copies of ordinances in other states. He suggested that the Town adopt an ordinance so there is something on file in case the state shows interest in placing windmills in Dayton.
Dick suggested that one requirement should be a 2000 foot setback from neighboring residences. Remi Caron noted that the setbacks in the ordinances from other states are intended for industrial use and not small residential wind turbines. Other considerations are the size of the props, the height of the turbine and the fall zone. Dick noted that towers tend to be self limiting, as they become very expensive above a certain height.
No further action taken at this meeting; members are continuing to research.
New Business:
LOUISE PARADIS, PIZZA AND SANDWICH SHOP: A Conditional Use Permit application for a pizza/sandwich take-out stand was submitted by Louise Paradis. The business would be located at 930 New County Road. Mrs. Paradis will appear on the agenda for the August 18 meeting. Members decided to do a drive-by but not schedule a site walk unless there appears to be a need.
The meeting adjourned at 7:18 PM. The next meeting is August 18, 2009.
