School Board
Christopher Vigue- SAU School Board Member candidate
My name is Chris Vigue, I grew up in Old Orchard Beach and went to high school at Thornton Academy. I moved to Dayton in 2001, and started a family here 10 years ago. My wife and I have two children that currently attend DCS.
Professionally, I own a custom glass company. Being a small business as we are, accountability and fiscal responsibilities are a must. Being both a business owner and a parent of two children currently attending DCS, it’s raised my attention to both the education they’re receiving, and how we’re paying for it.
On a more personal level, I love to spend time with my family. We enjoy our family vacations, and summer weekends at camp near Moosehead Lake.
I’m also a private pilot, though I don’t fly as often as I'd like.
Lastly, I enjoy a good Patriots football game come fall!
Donna Murray- SAU School Board Member candidate
I have lived in Dayton for 32 years. My late husband, Mark Murray and I raised our daughter Skye here. We bought our home in Dayton to enjoy the benefits of its small, rural community; the school being one of its assets. Mark worked at DCS as school counselor for 8 years and Skye attended DCS, SMS and TA.
I am currently chair of the school board, seeking reelection for another 3 year term. As a board member it has been important to me to act as a link between the community and the school system. I have ensured that our school continues to set long-term goals and visions for the school and focusing on student achievement and safety. It is our continued responsibility to bring community values into our decision making process. I have and will continue to advocate for every student, teachers and public education to ensure the educational programming meets the needs of all students.
I am a retired Educator of 43 years. I worked in public schools and a special purpose private school. I was a classroom teacher in multi-grade levels, a Principal and a Special Ed Director. My background is grounded in: K-12 curriculum development assuring content standards align with Maine Learning Results; classroom behavioral management; trauma-informed practices; managing school budget; teaching to individual learning styles; working with families to ensure the IEP meets the needs of their child; state and local assessments; Maine Education Law and Special Ed Law.
These past 3 years I have found this role to be a rewarding service to our community. I am asking for your vote on June 9, 2026 so I may continue to serve. Thank you very much.
Select Board
Chris Belanger has been a resident of Dayton since 2014. Raised in neighboring Biddeford, Chris has pride in his roots and highly values civic engagement. When finding a community to settle into to raise his family, Chris was excited to join the Dayton community.
Chris and his wife, Jen, have three children that attend Dayton Consolidated School and Thornton Academy Middle School. Noted as “the coolest Dad at school” by one of his son’s peers, Chris is approachable, friendly, sincere, and while he takes the role of Selectman seriously, he doesn’t take himself too seriously. Professionally, Chris is a lead software engineer at Nevo Technologies and works remotely from his Dayton home.
At the municipal and local level, it doesn’t much matter whether one identifies as a Republican, Democrat, or Independent - the role of the Select Board is to ensure the smooth functioning of the town’s community functions, and to represent the community of Dayton’s needs. Chris’ concern is ensuring that the people of Dayton get the best-functioning government for its money, balancing good governance, integral town services, while being mindful of the tax burden on himself and his neighbors.
