Dayton Planning Board

August 2, 2011

Present: Remi Caron (Chair), Pat Sughrue, Valerie Cole (Alt)

Town Employees: Jim Roberts (CEO)

Administrative:

The July 5, 2011 minutes were read and approved. Pat Sughrue motioned, Valerie Cole seconded, all voted in favor.

Old Business:

TAMMY CARPENTER, TAKE-OUT: The new take-out at 980 New County Road has not yet opened. The Conditional Use Permit was issued last month.

New Business:

FIREWORKS: The Maine Fireworks law has been passed and goes into effect in January 2012. CEO Jim Roberts suggested that the Planning Board may want to look into this law and pass an ordinance regarding the sale and possession of fireworks. It would be a good idea to have something prepared for a vote in November. Remi Caron is willing to contact the MMA to see if they have an ordinance in effect and/or suggestions. In New Hampshire it is legal to sell fireworks, but many towns don't allow them to be set off. The Board may want to consider such issues as quantity, hours when they may be released, and proximity to neighbors.

The meeting adjourned at 7:30 PM. There is nothing on the agenda for August 16th, The next meeting will be Tuesday, September 6th, 7:00 PM at the Town Hall.
