SELECTMEN’S MEETING MINUTES                                                                                                              

May 30, 2006

PRESENT:  Ted Poirier, Jim Trask, Angela Cushman

ABSENT: Jim Roberts

OTHERS PRESENT:

Selectman Ted Poirier declared the meeting open at 19:00

OLD BUSINESS:

 

 

 NEW BUSINESS:

1.      Jim Trask spoke with Don Pomerleau, Communication Commander with State Department, on getting cost for just the PSAP. Saco is going with State PSAP.  Saco is willing to let us join in at $1/capita.   Jim Trask will follow up Chief Brad Paul regarding on finalizing this agreement.

2.      Discussion was held regarding the old snack shack.   The old snack shack is owned by the Town.  The Selectmen have decided that the old snack shack will be shared by the Dayton Recreation Committee and the School.  The right side of the shack will be designated for the School and the left side for the Recreation Committee.  The 2 sides should be keyed differently.  Little League asked for access to this building in order to get power for the pitching machine.  Jim Roberts will have someone install an outside outlet on the old snack shack.  Jim Roberts and Angela Cushman will determine meters and who is paying for each service.  Angela Cushman will get copies of snack shack keys to keep at Town Hall.  Motion by Jim Trask to implement the above.  Passed 2/0. 

3.      Rick Michuad has asked communities to join in an effort to look at a regional effort in looking at the future of education.  The cost to Dayton would be approx. $35,000.  Dayton is not in the position to join in at this time, but would consider during the first of the year 2007 during the budget process.  Ted Poirier will communicate this decision with Skip Cushman, Chair School Board.

4.       Leo Goodwin will be the warden for the Town Elections.  The Moderator of the town meeting will have to appoint a Deputy Moderator (Leo Goodwin) to oversee the Town Elections.  Leo Goodwin will serve as Deputy Moderator and Warden for the day of elections.  The Moderator and Deputy Moderator/ Warden will need to be oversee the counting and closing of the elections.

5.      Town Elections will be held in the School Portable on Tuesday, June 13th.  Ed LeBlanc will follow up with school janitors regarding setup.

6.      Jim Roberts will follow up with Ginny Procter on getting the ballot printed for the ordinance changes.

7.      Discussion was held regarding clerk and tax collector positions transferring to newly elected people.  Georgianna Cole and Virginia Procter will need to be appointed as deputies to stay on to train elected clerk and tax collector.  Deputies will be $14/hr.  As of June 14th 2006, agent fees will become Town Revenue instead of fees paid directly to the clerk and tax collector.
