SELECTMEN’S MEETING MINUTES                                                                                                              

August 13, 2007

PRESENT:  Ted Poirier, Jim Trask, Angela Cushman, Ed LeBlanc, Jim Roberts, Mike Souliere

Selectman Ted Poirier declared the meeting open at 19:00

EXECUTIVE SESSION:  

 

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

 

APPOINTMENTS:     

  1. Janice Saunders, Registrar of Voters, expires August 13, 2008.

PUBLIC FORUM:

  1. Lisa Whitney asked about putting a sign like “hidden drive” on the Steele Rd corner coming from Biddeford.  Lisa also asked who she would need to contact regarding bus stops for students on Steele Rd.  Lisa will need to contact bus dispatch at SU7. Ted Poirier explained about the military exemption for real estate taxes.  Residents would need to apply through the State for this reimbursement.
  2. John Bossionnault asked whether the request from Omar about moving the Buda Rd entrance on Hollis Rd. has been addressed.  The Dearborn Conditional Use Permit does not state anything regarding changing the Buda Rd.  entrance on Hollis Rd.  John also asked about the status of the Dearborn Conditional Use Permit.  The Town has received all requirements to maintain the permit; certificate of insurance and $10,000 deposit to be held in escrow.

OLD BUSINESS:

  1. FPL hired a security guard to maintain the boat launch this past Sunday.  Things went well on Sunday.  Jim Trask will come up with a list of additional boat launches in the area, so when the parking lot is full the security guard can communicate to boaters.
  2. Upgrades on polling places – Ed will provide an update next Selectmen’s Meeting.
  3. Dog issue – Ed to follow up. 

NEW BUSINESS:

  1. Susie Bellerose gave an update on collections.  Ed LeBlanc made a motion to accept the prepayment resolution and overpayment resolution; 2nd by Jim Trask. Passed 3/0.  The tax liens for the 2006-2007 tax year were approximately $37,000. Susie also provided a legislative update.  Ed LeBlanc made a motion to accept LD 227 to reimburse the difference in excise tax; 2nd Jim Trask.  Passed 3/0.  For July collections approximately $42,000 was collected for excise.    
  2. Jim Trask will be attending the School Regional Committee Meeting on Wednesday, August 15th at 7 pm.  A resident is needed to serve on the Committee.  Angela Cushman to send an e-mail.
  3. Information provided by the Assessor, Michele Boisjoly, was discussed by the Selectmen.  Ted Poirier made a motion to set the mil rate at $14.40 for the 2007-2008; 2nd by Jim Trask.  Passed 3/0.
  4. Jim Trask asked posting 15 mph signs along Hollis Rd. for when children are present at the school.  Mike Souliere will order and post Hollis Rd.  Rt. 35 is already posted.
  5. The Selectmen discussed the need for a new Town Office Building.  The Selectmen will begin to address in the next couple of months.
