SELECTMEN MEETING MINUTES

 

OCTOBER 20, 2008

 

PRESENT:  Ted Poirier, Jim Roberts, Ed Leblanc, Jim Trask, Angela Cushman

Selectmen Ted Poirier declared the meeting open at 19:00.

  1. CEO Report              

 

OLD BUSINEES:

  1. New Municipal building. Jim and Angela provided an update. Angela to place an ad in the Journal Tribune.  Outstanding item:  Ed LeBlanc to contact the school regarding cleaning out the section of the modular they are using for storage.  The Selectmen will then decide when to sell the small modular building.  Angela provided an update on the status on the permanent financing through Maine Municipal Bond Bank.
  2. Personnel Policy.  Ed LeBlanc made a motion to set up a section 125 plan at the cost $350; 2nd Jim Trask.  Passed 3/0.

 

NEW BUSINESS:    

  1. Selectmen’s Meetings.  The schedule for the upcoming Selectmen’s Meetings is Oct. 27th, Nov. 3rd and no meeting Nov. 10th. Starting Nov. 18th, the Selectmen will be meeting weekly on Tuesdays.
  2. General Assistance Maximums.  Ed LeBlanc made a motion to accept the General Assistance Ordinance Appendices A-C 2008-2009; 2nd Jim Trask.  Passed 3/0.
  3. Impending Foreclosures.  There are six residents who will be receiving impending foreclosure notices in November for their 2006 outstanding real estate taxes.
  4. Tax Collector monthly update.  As of September, $1.6 million in real estate taxes have been collected. There is approximately $235,000 left to collect.  Motor vehicle registrations are down. 
  5. Road maintenance.  There have been several complaints of washed out shoulders along Hollis Rd. and unfinished shouldering along the Mast Rd.  Ted Poirier to follow up with the Mike Souliere, Road Commissioner.

 

 

PUBLIC FORUM:

            John Gay asked how the parking is going at the dam.  Ed LeBlanc communicated that Florida Power & Light hired an individual to manage the parking at the dam on the weekends.  This set up worked great.  John also asked about the status of the well-drilling.  The well drillers had problems and will be back later this week.
