There are various programs available to Dayton residents that provide tax relief, but you must file your application by April 1, 2007.  Please contact my office for applications and guidelines to determine if you are eligible:

        Homestead Exemption - The estimated exemption for 2007/2008 is $9,100.00.  
        Veteran’s Exemption -    The estimated exemption for 2007/2008 is $3,500.00.
        (This includes widows/widowers of eligible Veterans)
        Blind Exemption -           The estimated exemption for 2007/2008 is $2,800.00.

        The following is an example of how one of these exemptions would affect your taxes:

                        Without Homestead Exemption:

Valuation:              Land -          $ 40,000
                        Building -      $ 60,000
                        Total -         $100,000                                Taxes - $1,540.00

                        With Homestead Exemption:

                        Land -          $ 40,000        
                        Building -      $ 60,000        
                        Homestead -     $   9,100
                        Total -                 $ 90,900                                Taxes - $1,399.86

                

Current Use Programs like the Farm Program and Open Space Program also have an April 1, 2007  application deadline.
